The Colorado state emissions testing program covers the counties of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, Larimer, Weld, Jerrerson, and Broomfield. The rural areas of Adams and Arapahoe counties east of Kiowa Creek are excluded.
There are eighteen emissions testing service centers that all vehicles may be tested at. If your vehicle is from 1981 or prior it may be tested at an independent testing location. My car failed emissions due to a check engine light. I know it’ll pass the emissions part. So far I have put $890.00 into my car and check engine light is still on. Is there a max dollar amount that will exempt my car from the check engine light part of emissions and allow me to get my actual emmisins tested so I can get an updated tag?
Unfortunately, there is no max amount that will exempt your vehicle for emissions testing. If you are still unable to resolve your check engine light issue we recommend you use an OBD2 scanner and check what the exact issue is.
