Minnesota does not currently have any emissions laws set into place. Residents are not required to have their vehicle pass an emissions test, but they do reward those drivers who are eco-friendly. Let’s take a look at what incentives you can earn for driving green.
Minnesota eco-friendly drivers can receive an auto insurance discount. You will need to contact your auto insurance company to find out what they offer. Here is a list of discounts that you could receive:
- Hybrid auto discounts
- Alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) discounts
- Economy car discounts
- Low-mileage discounts
- Pay as you drive discounts
The IRS also recognizes eco-friendly drivers in Minnesota. Minnesota does not currently offer state tax breaks, but you can enjoy federal breaks. If you drive the following, enjoy a federal tax break:
- Electric cars (EV)
- Hybrids
- Plug-in hybrids (PHEV)
- Diesels
- Alternative fuel vehicles (AFV)
